Hajo's Headphone Enhancer

macOS 10.13 High Sierra

macOS 10.13 High Sierra introduced a new security feature which might block my Kernel Extension upon first install. To make sure the app works correctly, please follow this tutorial from Apple to approve my KEXT: Technical Note TN2459: User-Approved Kernel Extension Loading

Installation Instructions

If you want to upgrade the software, please first follow the Uninstall Instructions and then continue with these instructions.

1. Double-click the DMG file you just downloaded. No DMG file? Download Installer/Uninstaller DMG

2. Double-click the installer:

3. The installer needs to check which version of the virtual sound card driver is right for your Mac. Click continue:

4. Click continue:

5. The default options are recommended for everyone. Click install:

6. If asked, enter username and password for an administrator user:

7. The installation should now complete successfully :)

and will greet you with a window explaining the software:

That's it. Enjoy your newly enhanced headphone listening experience!

Uninstall Instructions

1. If you still have the Trial download around, just double-click the DMG file you downloaded. If not, download this file: Installer/Uninstaller DMG and then double-click the DMG to open it.

2. Double-click the removal tool:

3. The removal tool will look like an installer (because it requires access to the Mac installation system to do it's job), but actually it'll uninstall my software (Hajo's Headphone Enhancer). To continue, just click Continue and then "Install". Yes I know it's odd that the removal button is called Install, but that's a technical limitation. If you don't trust my removal tool to do it's job properly, you can also just follow the manual removal instructions.

4. If asked, enter username and password for an administrator user:

5. To remove the virtual surround sound card that my headphone enhancer provides, a restart is needed. Please confirm that this is OK:

6. Even though it says installation complete, this screen means to tell you that my software was removed successfully. Now you Mac needs to be restarted once so that all audio players notice that the virtual surround sound card is now gone. Click "Restart" to do so:
